Forget Rooney’s toe woe. Here’s something great about England’s World Cup campaign – a fantastic £10-a-round offer on Playgolf Northwick Park’s amazing ‘Majors’ golf course for as long as Sven’s boys remain in World Cup 2006.

Starting from Saturday June 3, a round on the unique golf complex’s ‘Majors’ course – which features six replicas of some of the most famous golf holes in the world – will cost just £10, a saving of up to £14 per round.

Every single flag at Northwick Park will feature the Cross of St George, and the money-saving World Cup offer will run and run…for as long as England stay in the tournament!

In the bar it’s £10 for a pitcher of draught beer, and in Northwick Park’s Golf Store it’s 10% off a load of golf equipment … while England are still alive.

A Northwick Park spokesman said: “Everyone at Northwick Park is right behind England and we’d be delighted if the offer lasted all the way to the final…even though it’s costing us money. We’ve got two 42-inch plasma screens showing a World Cup match a day – including all of England’s games of course.

“As the final takes place in Berlin on July 9, our deal could last for 35 days in total – saving golfers hundreds, if not thousands of pounds. Northwick Park has definitely got World Cup fever!”

Golfers will have at least 10 days to take up the offer, as the earliest England could be knocked out, is June 15, if they lose their first two Group B games against Paraguay and Trinidad & Tobago.

If they qualify for the knockout stages, they’d still be involved in the competition until June 24 or 25, extending to June 30 or July 1 if they were to reach the quarter-finals and July 4 and 5 if they made the semi-finals.

But the key date for England followers is likely to be June 20, with their final Group B showdown with arch-rivals Sweden.

Given recent results against the Scandinavians, that’s when Northwick Park could be saying Auf Wiedersehen to their offer!

Northwick Park’s Majors Course features ‘tributes’ to famous golf holes from around the world, including the 12th and 16th at Augusta, the Postage Stamp at Troon, and the 9th at The Belfry. Rounds of golf normally cost £20 off-peak, or £24 at peak times.
